Description:

Education, scholarship, research, and legitimate government depend on our confidence in sources of truth.  Our faith in the validity, reliability, and persistence of those sources depends on the links that connect us to them.  Links like citation and attribution, ….

“Fake News” and “Alternate Facts” break those links and undermine our confidence.

How can we repair this chain of trust?

"... it’s our shared responsibility to insist on the existence of facts and the force of law as the language of democratic government — and that just as the president is not above the law, he is also not above the facts.”

From “Can a president who disregards the truth uphold his oath of office?

His job demands a basic level of respect for the concepts of law and meaning.” by Quinta Jurecic January 27
