1.  Are errors essential for learning?
How do we know?  What kinds of errors are especially helpful/hurtful?
What kinds of learning, for whom, require errors?
How do we help learners accept/appreciate their own errors?

2.  Do online courses harm students?
How should we respond to Dynarski’s article: “Online Courses Are Harming the Students Who Need the Most Help"

3.  Training vs. Education
Under what conditions is this an important distinction?  So what?

4.  What can only be learned sequentially?
How do we know?  How can we identify the correct sequence?

PLUS ADDITIONAL TOPICS/QUESTIONS SUGGESTED BY PARTICIPANTS.

We'll try, as usual, to:

  • avoid oversimplifications and overgeneralizations
  • identify relevant conditions, limitations, and resources  for any conclusions, recommendations
  • acknowledge legitimate fears and hopes
  • meet the needs of faculty and other higher education academic professionals who have already been successful, but who have had little or no direct experience teaching, supporting, or being a student in an online course (fully, hybrid, etc.)

We won't merely laugh at naked emperor(s), we'll try to re-clothe them.

But we will laugh as often as we can.
