Beginning Algebra THE Gateway Course?
Help for Beginners & Re-Beginners

Online Quizzes and Related Resources
Emphasis:  question formats, feedback to learners/teachers

Obfuscation Proliferates when Ambiguity is Eschewed

Description

The session will be about teaching and learning beginning algebra online... for people who have trouble with beginning algebra. We will emphasize the growing variety of quiz-like online resources, introduce several, and compare their

  • question formats
  • feedback provided to learners and teachers
In general, we’re looking for resources, guidelines, and recommendations available to those trying to teach beginning algebra online; those trying to help students learn basic concepts & skills of college-prereq algebra courses online. (We use the term "online" here to include both fully online teaching/learning as well as "onsite" teaching/learning complemented or supplemented with online resources.)  We seek resources that students can use alone, with other students, with or without expert guidance; to meet the notational, conceptual, and emotional challenges encountered in beginning algebra by most beginners.
