March Symposium:
New Roundtables for Collaborative Change

Dealing with Presenting Problems

March 8 and 22, 2012 2-3 pm eastern

Online tools and other educational resources available for use in college courses are proliferating in variety, power, and accessibility.   However, many academics are not familiar with newer alternatives to the restrictive models of online education from the past (such as live video broadcasts, the distribution of video recordings, and text-dominated asynchronous discussion boards).

Typical campus reactions: discomfort, fear, enthusiasm, and/or befuddlement.

Our March Symposium will adapt and demonstrate an effective planning and decision-making process designed for issues that require the expertise and support of an unusual variety of key stakeholders within a college or university - namely, the TLT Roundtable approach.

If you’re interested in thinking with us about these issues and how to address them, you’ll be welcome at the Symposium.  If you have ideas or experiences which are relevant, you’ll be welcome to share them.  If you want the experience of participating in a “fishbowl” TLTR, you’ll be welcome to join us.

We welcome all in higher education - faculty, librarians, faculty developers, administrators, but we especially encourage small groups of colleagues from the same institution.

The Symposium is free to individual members.  Check your institution's status here if you have your membership through an institutional subscription.

Participants for this workshop should sign-in 15 minutes early for tech instructions and to meet others in the group; they also have the option of remaining online for a half-hour follow-up discussion immediately after the workshop.

All of the TLT Group’s online offerings include use of “low threshold” tools, examination of controversial issues, options for participants with a range of experience, and suggestions for assessment as you integrate what you’ve learned into your repertoire.
